You've seen them in lyric videos, podcasts snippets, karaoke videos, and audio engineering programs. But what are audio waveforms, exactly? They're simple graphs of an audio file that shows its frequency and amplitude over time — basically, the taller the waveform, the louder the sound at that frequency. Oftentimes, podcasts and music videos use audio waveforms to make their content more enticing to viewers and listeners alike. What's more, they look really cool, and are a terrific way to add a professional touch to any video that has sound.
Upload a video from your own device or paste a link to a video from YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc. Then, click Elements in the upper toolbar.
Choose “Add a Waveform” from the left-hand menu when you’ve uploaded your audio. Adjust the style, position, and color of your audio waveform.
When your waveform looks just right and you're done with your video clip, click the Export button. Now you're ready to download your free audiogram video or share it directly to social media!
When scrolling through TikTok or YouTube do you ever come across a podcast, lyrics video, or “story time” where you can see the sound waves of what’s being played or talked about? A technical name for these visual sound waves are waveforms and they can add that professional touch your content was needing. Many people like having a visual when they are watching something, so by adding waveforms to your work, it can help your audience stay engaged with the video while they are listening to what is playing.
Waveforms may seem like something that would be difficult to add to your content, but with Kapwing Pro they can be added in just a few clicks. Kapwing is a simple but powerful multimedia editor that lets you add audio waveforms to your videos. Just add a video or audio track to your project, then select “Elements” in the left-hand toolbar. Under the waveform section you can select the waveform style you want and then choose which audio file you want to become your waveform. After the waveform is added, you can customize its color, style, position, and size. Along with audio waveforms, you can also add text, subtitles, transitions, and so much more. Now you can have a video that is engaging for your audience both audibly and visually!
Kapwing is free to use for teams of any size. We also offer paid plans with additional features, storage, and support.
